Order Pizza Online or Via Text Message

Order pizza online or via text message from Papa John's, Domino's, and Pizza Hut! The latest advancement in the world of technology allows hungry people on the go to text their order instead of calling. Three national chains are now offering Americans the choice on how they order their food. Considering Americans send about 30 billion text messages a month, the new system has the potential to be the way of the future.

Papa John's launched their text ordering system in November 2007. Customers can register online at www.papajohns.com and save their favorite orders, delivery and payment preferences with the "Favorite's Wizard." Once registered, customers can text their orders by using "FAV 1" or "FAV 2," etc. to 4PAPA (47272). Papa John's will then confirm the order and it will then be processed by the nearest Papa John's restaurant. Pizza Hut launched their Total Mobile Access system earlier this month. They boast that they are the only company with text, online and mobile ordering, as well as dine-in, carry-out and delivery services.

Total Mobile Access allows the customer to create an account online and construct a "Pizza Playlist." When the customer decides that they want a pizza, they can either text in their order by texting "O" and the name of the Pizza Playlist to 749HUT (749488) or the ravenous customer can use a Web-enabled cell phone and place an order through the Pizza Hut mobile Web site. The site, www.pizzahut.com, has been designed to automatically fit any phone's screen and has an abridged menu featuring favorite orders along with a store locator.

Domino's is the only pizza chain of the three to not offer text messaging, but they do offer mobile ordering from a Web-enabled phone. They launched their mobile campaign in July 2007, making them the first national pizza chain to offer the mobile service. However, the service is only available in roughly half of the chain's 5,128 U.S. stores. Customers can access the site, mobile.dominos.com, from any Web-enabled cell phone and order their favorite pizza and side items. Just include delivery information and payment preference and in about 30 minutes the pizza is ready.

These are not the only companies who are jumping at the chance to make text ordering the way of the future. Quizno's, Dunkin' Donuts and Subway have all looked into text ordering, while McDonald's is testing it in Seoul and Starbucks has tested the new technology in London and at one store in the U.S. Domino's, Papa John's and Pizza Hut also offer online ordering from their respective web sites. For those less technologically savvy don't fret - ordering pizza by phone or in person is still an option.
